If you think you are capable, a cradle would be nice. You can’t find decent ones at the stores, they are all so cheap and flimsy and made of plastic. Read up on safety codes and guidelines or find a plan online. a cradle is definitely a family heirloom item that will not get trashed.

honestly, a baby food processor, this one to be exact, http://www.williams-sonoma.com/products/e203/index.cfm I know it is a little more than you were trying to spend, but it would save them so much money in the long run and it is an awesome item to have, I have 2 boys.

I’m…old enough. LOL If some one gave me knit stuff for my kids or myself I’d/we’d wear them. For starters some one put in time and thought to make those for us. My oldest may not opt for the scarf but he’s into hats (thank god, my child, odds are he’d be looking at a lot of ear infections, like his mom did :s). My other two are still young enough that they don’t put up a fight when I bundle them for the cold. I actually knit my now sister inlaw a scarf the first year I gave her a gift. I had NEVER finished a knitting project in my life before that and she just loved it. Hand made gifts are wonderful. I love them
