Get her a baby bath tub and fill it with goodies like washcloths, baby powder, wipes, diapers, shampoo, hooded towels, rubber ducky, etc. That’s stuff both genders need! Congrats on your new neice or nephew.

The things for new babies is diapers mylacon gas drops and bath kits baby wipes mittens in case he scratches his face. These are things needed that will come in handy and will be appreciated when needed.

DIAPERS!! I just had my 2nd baby-another boy- and already had everything really I needed from my 1st baby. I wasn’t planning on having a shower, but my best friend surprised me with one. (yay!) The best gifts I received were diapers. I got loads of them in different sizes. And wipes too. One of my friends got me a HUGE 230 count box of size 1-2 diapers and a HUGE box of wipes (I assume at Sam’s club) and it has come in so handy.Your friend won’t need that many newborn size diapers, but she will need some. I used probably 100 newborn size diapers until my baby grew out of them. He’s 5 weeks old now and I am using size 1 diapers. If you have a Costco card, the Kirkland diapers (Costco’s brand) are AWESOME. Very soft and very absorbant. I can’t recommend those enough.Another gift idea to go along with diapers is a baby record book. Oh i love that idea! how creative and special! I would def do that. I would just write them a simple sweet not saying how much it meant to you that they came and shared this special day with you. Congrats and good luck!

Don’t worry about spending a lot of money; no one expects you to be a millionaire! A cute outfit would be appreciated–you have no idea how many clothes a baby goes through in a day, between what comes out of its mouth and what comes out of its butt! Go to your local Kmart or similar store and pick out a cute outfit from the baby section–you can also buy a set of bibs (day of the week is cute) or onesies. My favorite baby gift is a nice bib or set of bibs, and I write on the card, “Life’s messy. Wear a bib.”

Put together a fail-safe parent-pleasing gift basket. Make it themed around a certain time of day (ie: eating time, play time, bath time, bedtime).For example….for a bedime basket you could include a cute pair of pajamas, some Johnsons Soothing Bedtime Bath and Lotion, a great Lullabye CD, a story book and a nightlight. Baby Einstein has a really top notch Lullabye CD collection, there are 2 or three of them you can by separately, that cost around $8.00 each). Goodnight Moon or Runaway Bunny or Sandra Boynton Books are great story books…go with the more infant-friendly board books so the pages don’t rip! If you went to Target to purchase all of this, basket included, you would probably spend around $40.00 which would leave you enough room for some cellophane to wrap it up and a nice card! You might have enough left over to pick up a cute plush bear to go with it!For a eatin’ time basket you could include bottles that they registered for (or Vent Aire if they didn’t, they are good ones….work with drop ins or without. formula or breast milk.) Cute bibs, feeding spoons, burp cloths and a package of wipes. This one would probably only run you around $30.00, with the basket.Bathtime basket. Johnsons Bathgoodies….bath, shampoo, lotion. Hooded towel. Rubber ducky (of course!). Washcloths, too! This one would probably run you around $35.00 depending on the hooded towel you purchase!Hope this helped!!

Get the mom something!! She’s the one who is aching and tired and will be feeling forgotten. Slippers, a robe, pedicure appt, gift card to her favorite pre-pregnancy store.

With my first baby I did not know how the hole registry thing, and tons of people kept asking me “what do you want? what do you need?” so I told them all the same things and do you know what I got? 20 powders, tons of baby shampoo, lots of baby lotion, and it took me about 2 years to use all of it! (not complaining, just had to keep finding places to put them). then I got 2 bouncers, 2 play and packs, 2 swings. etc. so with my second I made a registry and got stuff that i NEEDED, I love the fact that they have registries now because now you want get to much stuff you don’t need, and get what you really need. and no it’s not rude! when ever I hear about a baby shower I find their registry. and don’t be afraid to ask for money, that’s what my sister did, was not rude or anything.

A gift certificate for photos is good.Or a gift certificate for a couple hours from a cleaning service/lady. I would have LOVED to get that at my shower.I mean, with a new baby coming, a house to maintain the cleanliness of, two dogs, and a man-boy husband I have no idea how I’m going to really have time to do the “deep” cleaning…so, a gift certificate from a place like that would be AWESOME.Just my $0.02

maybe you should get a joke t-shirt. on the back it should say “baby got back”. yeah i know its corny but ohh well. have a tishirt that says “don’t wanna mess with me” or “gangsta”.
