Look for a museum that specializes in ceramics.

get a regular table knife. turn your bank upside down & slide the knife in the slot. give it a bit of a wiggle & the coins will fall right out

show you how times have changed — when i got the paper route at 11 i needed to be able to write checks and since neither of my folks had a ckecking account (dad never did get one) i opened one — that has been over 57 years ago and i still have the same account number!!!

You could try glazing it and placing it in a kiln as traditional potters do. But unless you are confident it won’t implode, I’d advise against that.If you are concerned about the piggy bank breaking under high temperatures, try a product that will be less taxing on the prefab ceramics, like a spray-on clear gloss that won’t require any heating to set.Prior to spraying, I’d suggest placing a small piece of foam in the coin slot to prevent any webbing occurring across the gap.

Well, there is a legitimate form of ceramic, called “biscuit” (meaning unglazed pottery in a general sense). Have you thought of maybe spraying them with an acrylic varnish? Worth trying one to see how it comes out.

Use some other type of container for your coins, one that is highly unsuspecting.

Maybe she took it as hint to pay you more (if she paid you), or to pay you, if she did’nt. ????? But I thought it was thoughtful.

I would suggest acrylics and then cover it over with some kind of varnish to seal it in. Any craft store should carry dozens of colors. Good luck =)

This name came to me and stuck “Piggy Bank Dreams”Everyone will know that your business is your dream and your passion – plus you could have a signature Piggy Bank you donate to golf tournaments and silent auctions to get your name out.

armen_97402 January 20, 2011 at 2:16 am

michael’s (the craft store) they sell plain white ceramic piggy banks with the plug- and of course they also sell in the same section stuff to decorate the pigs

Take a scissor or tongs pass it through the round hole and catch hold the coin and slide it through the top slit.
