Usually proud single mom needs help, as do her kids?
I am a single mom of 3 teen-aged boys. They have been driving for a little over six months. We’ve been BLESSED in that people have given my two older boys cars. The issue is that because these cars were giveaways, they’re not in the best shape. My oldest son has put $1600 into his car from his grandparents, but the car still has an oil leak and is DESPERATELY in need of major repairs to the rear brakes. The mechanic has been great, allowing him to make payments on these repairs because he knows our situation. Right now, though, my son is down to only $123 in the bank. These repairs to the rear brakes will cost at least $400, and that’s IF the brake lines aren’t too rotten.

( Is there anyone out there who knows of a charity that would help my boys and I with car repairs? My van needs brakes and the heater is making a “cricket-like” sound so who knows how long that will last? My middle son’s car also kids bank with lock has a (slower) oil leak and has an issue with the catalytic converter. None of our issues are cheap, so we’re in desperate need of assistance. My ex (their dad) is not paying child support and may be locked up soon for that, so he’s not going to help. Any ideas you could come up with would be welcome. My oldest son attends the community college (all paid for by the Pell grant) and has to have a car. There is no public transportation in our town. There is also no bussing to our high school, which is why my middle son has to have a car. I was taking him, but he couldn’t get rides home (I’m at work when he gets out). Walking home is dangerous in our town because the road is HEAVILY traveled and there are no sidewalks. All four of us are on medications, too, mine because I DID have cancer 2 years ago and have no working thyroid. There are a lot of other issues involved in our situation. I’m sorry for not giving more details; but I didn’t want to bore you with the rest. I’m also sorry that I have made some of you so upset with my request for info. I just don’t want my son’s brakes to go out and then lose him to a wreck.

I am behind on all my bills, including medical and household, which is why my boys are using THEIR money to help with their own insurance and repairs.God bless.
