What are you basketball pet peeves?
I have a few. But I’ll start with the least important ones. I hate when people (who don’t play basketball) who think that you’ll only make a high school team if you can dunk. I can’t dunk but i’m the best player on our high school team. I also hate when you play with people who like to play basketball but they think they’re better than everyone else cuz they make everyshot on their plastic/acrylic backboard (that’s because they bank it off the glass every time). They need to realize that when they play on a real backboard (glass), kids bank play checks their shot isn’t going to go in nearly as much as they think it will. With acrylic/plastic back boards, i can literally throw the basketball as hard as I want and it will go in as long as I hit any part of the backboard that is directly above the rim. On a glass backboard, you actually need arch and backspin to hit a bank shot and you also need a certain touch if you’re close. Then my last pet peeve (my biggest) is when you play backyard basketball with some friends (who don’t play basketball) who think that when you check the ball, the defense isn’t allowed to cross the 3-pt line. They also act like they know all the rules in basketball and they try and tell you (the kid who actually plays basketball, knows the rules, etc) that you don’t know crap about basketball. I react by waiting for them to come close enough so that they can’t go back past the freethrow line, then i slap the ball out of their hands, then I kick it as far as I can. Once they tell me to go get it, I say “Like you said, the defensive player isn’t allowed to cross the 3-pt line” then you argue, and eventually he has to get it cuz it’s not my ball.
